Terms & Conditions

Congratulations on your selection of a healthy, happy dog from On The Bluff Labradors. Great care was taken in the selection of this breeding. With proper love, care, feeding, and training, your dog will greatly return your devotion.

When you sign this contract, you acknowledge you have read, understood, and agreed to its terms and conditions. Buyer understands that if they violate this contract, they are responsible for all legal costs (including but not limited to reasonable attorney fees) that Seller shall accrue when enforcing this contract. This contract is under the jurisdiction of the State of New York, in Columbia County, which will serve as the place of venue for any legal matters that may arise.

BUYER (DOG OWNER) CARE AGREEMENTS

Buyer and Seller agree to adhere to the following medical care and health prevention best practices:

  • The dog has been fed a specially formulated raw diet from birth by Seller. Buyer agrees to buy and continue to feed the raw diet for at least the next 40 days and must transition the dog’s food gradually according to our recommendations. This can include cooked food but not pre-made kibble products.
    • Studies have shown that dogs raised solely on dog food are at risk for cardiomyopathy and other conditions.
  • The dog will not be spayed or neutered until they are at least 2 years of age. Our preference is that the dog will be left intact for life. The dog will not be bred before the age of 2.
    • Buyer agrees not to start jogging, biking, agility, heavy or competitive field training or any strenuous activity that may damage the dog’s bone or muscle structure until it has reached 2 years of age. This is to allow the dog to reach a physical maturity level so that this kind of training does not damage the animal.
    • There is substantial evidence now from numerous studies that spaying/neutering a dog before they are 2 years of age puts the dog at risk for sarcomas, bone cancers, and a wide range of joint dysplasias/disorders.
  • The dog will receive titer testing from a veterinarian, instead of automatic vaccinations against potential future illnesses. Buyer agrees to minimize the amount of vaccines given to the dog.
    • If you must vaccinate your dog, make sure you vaccinate for one illness per vet appointment, and only do one vaccination of each type. Studies have shown dogs are fully vaccinated with only one vaccination which will last a lifetime. After that, a vet can do titer testing to measure your dog’s immunity.
    • We do not recommend vaccinating against distemper because it is very rare. In addition, a recent study has shown it to put the dog at risk for Pana, a condition that causes the dog to grow too fast and become lame for a period of time.
    • We do not recommend vaccinating against bordatella (kennel cough) because it is not life-threatening, and the vaccine only includes a few strains of the illness when there are hundreds of strains.
    • We do not recommend vaccinating against leptospirosis because it is a very hard vaccine on the dog and, like bordatella, it only covers a few strains of the illness.

SELLER (DOG BREEDER) REPRESENTATIONS

  • Buyer agrees to adhere to all recommended medical care guidelines from On The Bluff, including feeding raw diet, reducing vaccines, and delaying spay/neuter.

  2. The dog has been vaccinated twice against Parvovirus (at 5 weeks & 7 weeks of age).
      • Buyer’s health guarantee for the dog does not include viral illnesses, cancer, bites, hernias, hypoglycemia, giardia, salmonella, or cocciciosis.

      • The dog’s AKC paperwork will reflect a Limited Registration, which prevents offspring from being registered with the AKC. Breeding of the dog is prohibited.

If the dog is proven to be in poor health due to a genetic condition, Buyer has the option to return the dog at Buyer’s expense to Seller for a full refund.
