WHY FEED RAW

The raw diet is attempting to repeat the wild. Feeding them “dog food” is equivalent to feeding your kids only processed food, nothing fresh. We recommend one of the following approaches:

ORDER, PICK UP & FEED ON THE BLUFF RAW MIXES

MAKE YOUR OWN FRESH COOKED FOOD

N

ORDER FRESH FOOD DELIVERY FROM A REPUTABLE VENDOR

Frequently Asked Questions

WHAT FOOD WILL I RECEIVE ON PUPPY PICKUP DAY?

You will be taking home a 40lb supply of frozen raw diet food: (4) 5lb bags of On The Bluff Raw Blend (with bone) and (4) 5lb bags of On The Bluff Raw Beef Blend (without bone). On average, your pup will be eating 1lb (2 cups) of food per day. We require you to take our food and feed it to your pup using a slow transition schedule.

How Do I Prep The Food?

We recommend that you use a knife to cut the block of food into 10 square portions that you can keep frozen until you’re ready to thaw and serve. If you’d prefer, you can thaw the block in entirety in the refrigerator, and then create bags or packages of 1/2lb servings to re-freeze.

How Much Should My Pup Eat?

For the first 30 Days:

Morning: ½ lb (or 1 cup) of On The Bluff Raw Blend
TIP: Add some hot or cold water depending on the season and the temperature of the meat to create a stew consistency.

Evening: ½ lb (or 1 cup) of On The Bluff Raw Beef Blend (NO BONE)
TIP: Feel free to add vegetables to the evening meal such as broccoli, kale, collard greens, etc.

As Your Pup Grows: You will be increasing the food. Eventually your pup will eat about 2 pounds of protein along with vegetables, fruits and other animal parts a day depending on his/her size and how much exercise they are getting. You want your pup on the thin side but not too thin. Make sure he/she has a waist. A pup/dog will be thinner on the raw food diet. A growing dog will eat more than a grown dog.

How Do I introduce New Foods?

Please wait 30 days until you start to introduce new food. If you are switching to another brand of raw food, you will start adding this a little at a time to your pup’s existing food. Raw to raw is an easy transition. DO NOT SWITCH TO KIBBLE.

Just as you would for an infant, introduce one new food at a time every few days or so. In this way, if your pup has a reaction, you will know what food does not agree with him/her.

How Long Does The Food Last?

You should always thaw your food in the refrigerator. Because we’re preparing the food for consumption by dog, you can thaw and refreeze the food into smaller blocks. We recommend you take out 3 days of breakfast (0.5lb) and dinner (0.5lb) at a time. The food will last 3 days in the refrigerator.

CAN I SWITCH TO KIBBLE OR DOG FOOD?

We will not recommend any dog food. They are all overly processed, do not have an  expiration date so you have no idea how long it has been sitting on the shelf and they are made with inferior ingredients to meet the corporation’s bottom line. A dog was not designed to eat overprocessed food put together by humans.

We know that most of you would not feed yourself or your kids only processed food. Dogs are mammals just like us. They need fresh food. Your leftovers are great and cooked fresh food is also fine. Raw food has more nutrients and is what they were designed to eat, but if you feel strongly about cooking food for your dog, go ahead. It is far better than dog food.
