We will not recommend any dog food. They are all overly processed, with no expiration date and inferior ingredients included to meet the corporation’s bottom line.

Dogs are mammals just like us. They need fresh food. Your leftovers are great and cooked fresh food is also fine. Raw food has more nutrients and is what they were designed to eat, but if you feel strongly about cooking food for your dog, go ahead. It is far better than dog food.

Feel free to only feed your dog a pre-made raw food diet. It is well designed and will supply all the nutrients. You do not have to make it yourself anymore. So do what works for you. We are just giving you options.

SAMPLE WEEKLY MENU

Monday:
Morning: Chicken back (raw with bone left in)
Evening: Plain beef, chopped kale and broccoli, kefir, some olive oil
Friday:
Morning: On The Bluff Raw Blend
Evening: Duck and duck parts
Tuesday:
Morning: On The Bluff Raw Blend
Evening: Fresh or canned sardines (not from China) or salmon or any kind of inexpensive fish with chopped collard greens, kale, broccoli, kefir
Saturday:
Morning: Raw chicken leg or back
Evening: Plain rabbit or turkey, chopped kale, chopped spinach, kefir and salmon/pollock oil or olive oil
Wednesday:
Morning: Venison and tripe
Evening: Plain chopped turkey or chicken, chopped mustard greens, kefir, salmon oil
Sunday:
Morning: On The Bluff Raw Blend
Evening: Beef with or without tripe
Thursday:
Morning: Marrow bone, some turkey or chicken necks
Evening: Fresh or canned fish or some kind of whole fish, Swiss chard, broccoli, kefir

If you are uncomfortable with bones, you can substitute chicken meat for chicken backs or plain turkey meat for turkey necks.

If you feel your pup has trouble digesting bone then do the marrow bones. They are so hard, your pup will not be able to eat them, but he will gnaw on them endlessly which will remove plaque from his teeth and will supply some calcium as well as endless entertainment.

TIPS & TRICKS

  • Feed a meal with bone in the morning. You can use On The Bluff’s Raw Blend, which includes bone, or you can try a raw chicken back, whole fish, turkey neck, chicken neck, or raw marrow bone. You can order these “scraps” from your local butcher or farm in bulk and freeze/thaw them as needed. We recommend not doing extra bone every day of the week because it can sometimes result in constipation or diarrhea; feeding it about three times per week is good.
  • Feed a meal without bone in the evening. You can give On The Bluff’s Beef Blend, which does not include bone, or you can try plain beef, venison, duck, rabbit, or even caned fish. Add some veggies, fruit, and/or kefir yogurt to complete the meal.
  • Consider feeding your pup tripe for extra nutrients. You can give On The Bluff’s Tripe Blend, which comes in a 12.5lb bag and has a strong odor (don’t worry, it’s not bad, it’s fine!).
  • Consider interesting add-ons for flavor and wellness. Oil is good for dogs; we recommend you try salmon oil, pollock oil, or cod liver oil. You can also add some raw garlic, which most dogs love. Fruit is good, too – consider banana, apple, pear, or berries.
